10th anniversary of Dash Film

2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Dash Film. Yay, for us!

We would like to thank all of you who have supported us over the last ten years. Likewise all those associates, many of whom worked with us in our previous years, and who still do; again a big thank you. We couldn’t have done it without all of you.

On reflection it now seems a huge decision to set up this business. At the time we probably did not appreciate the magnitude of the decision we were taking – it just seemed like the right thing to do. Each project we’ve worked on has been unique, we’ve put together so many talents and wonderful industry names. The teams we form around a project are something to elevate our values, where the right people are the starting point for success.

Making a difference

We were then, and continue to be, passionate about turning ideas into interesting projects. We believe that every new adventure we take by embarking on a new project is like the beginning of a new filmstory. What’s more, a production company is an environment where a new project can successfully come to life; that is what we define as customer satisfaction and commercial success.

So, setting out 10 years ago with these lofty ideals, we like to think we have made a difference. We still have a long way to go.

Some of our highlights have been “Wall” - one of our short films that we managed to shoot in only one day: 1 single shot, 18 minutes, 18 takes! “Dincolo de centru. Jurnalul unei Societati”, as this marked the beginning of an ample project that looks at living histories from an anthropological and historical perspective; Delia’s music video “Cine m-a facut om mare”, as it came with a challenging shooting in terrible heat, but ended up being one of the most viewed videos in the artist’s portfolio (47mil viewers); Sempasi’s series of commercials that were shot in a beautiful location in Bulgaria, and where we managed something that many might consider impossible - shooting eight commercials in one day ( without overtime ;) ); Ninigra’s debut music video that was shot in pandemic times, but still we managed to have a lot of fun; and last but not least, Robin and the Backstabber’s music video - “E vina ta” in which we painted the faces of one of the coolest Romanian underground bands.

All of our projects can be viewed here:

Looking forward

So our rallying call at the start of 2023, is that we still have much good work to do. Thank you for your past support, and we look forward to continuing to work with our clients.

Some of the projects that we are working on are built around Monarch -  a feature film based on a book written by Dan Radu Mihai and Dan Sociu, Cvartal - a documentary about the history of housing in ten Bucharest neighbourhoods or Six characters in search of a gamer - a multimedia project involving motion capture and 3D character design. A short film directed by an influential and a renowned visual artist in Romania and a documentary about the roots of new wave & punk music in Romania are also on the table for the next year.

Let’s commit to investing our time in them and see where our work ethic takes us in the next 10 years.
