Emptiness

"Emptiness" is a documentary directed by Viesturs Kairišs about how and why certain places in Romania, Latvia, Italy, Great Britain, and Germany are losing people, schools, services, and infrastructure, and about how the people who remain there live in this desolation or try to overcome it. They either have to move, reinvent themselves to reconnect to the global circuits of capital, or become self-sufficient and disconnect from the world.

The shooting in Romania is scheduled for October 2024 and March 2025.
